Meet Our Team

Dental team: 1 man, 5 women

Dr. J Michael Bellamy

I am a native of the Carolinas, born in Lexington--the BBQ capital of the world!--and I grew up in Florence, SC and Asheville, NC. I was fortunate to graduate a Tar Heel from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1988 with a degree in chemistry and again in 1992 as a doctor of dental surgery. While there I met my lovely wife, and in 1992 we moved to Charlotte. We are blessed with three wonderful children who never cease to keep us busy, entertained, and thankful.

I consider myself one of the most fortunate people in the world to work in a profession that I love so dearly. Over the years, I have found my passion for dentistry continues to flourish, thanks to my fantastic staff, extraordinary relationships with my patients, and superior continuing education opportunities. I can only hope that I return to my family of patients just as much satisfaction as I get from endeavoring to improve the quality of their lives.

Jenny

I am originally from China and moved to Charlotte in 2005, after having lived in Canada for 5 years and St. Louis, Missouri for 9 years. I completed the Dental Assisting program at Toronto Business School in Toronto, Canada in 1996. My passion for working in dentistry comes from the enjoyment I get out of taking good care of patients and appreciating the fine art of dentistry. The most rewarding part about being an assistant is to see the beautiful smiles we help create on our patients' faces. In my spare time, I love to take walks every day and road trips while on vacation. I am also the head chef in my family and like creating and trying out new dishes. I am married and have one daughter, who is working in New York now.

Karen

I am originally from Long Island, NY, but have spent most of my life in the Charlotte area. I started in the dental hygiene profession in 1994 as a graduate from Central Piedmont. I love my job because I enjoy helping people improve their smiles and oral health. My husband and I have two teenage boys, so in our free time we are very involved in Boy Scouts and frequently sit in the bleachers of their baseball games. As a family, we enjoy traveling and exploring new cities across the country.

Shelby - Dental Hygiene

Shelby

I’m originally from a small village in Ohio. I graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 2018 with a degree in Associate of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene. In my spare time, I enjoy working out, going to the beach, and hanging with my friends and family. I find myself very lucky to have found a career in which I’m so passionate, and I love to continue learning about this field. I strive to encourage, motivate, and educate my patients to achieve optimal dental health.

Dawn

My career in dentistry started in 1988 after completing my dental assistant program. I began working at UNC Chapel Hill's dental school. After dreaming of going to dental hygiene school for years, I made my dream a reality and graduated from Central Piedmont Community College's hygiene program in 1999. I currently work as both a Patient Care Coordinator and Dental Hygienist at Dr. Bellamy's. I am very passionate about caring for and helping others, which is why both of my positions are a perfect fit for me. I've lived in Charlotte for over 25 years after spending my childhood in Hillsborough, NC and have been blessed with 3 amazing children and a wonderful husband.

Cameran

I've grown up surrounded by the dental industry, which makes my job at Dr. Bellamy's feel like my second home. I am Dr. Bellamy's Administrative Services Coordinator and Marketing Manager; you can find me at the front desk or in my mini office if Dawn is helping in the front. I love my job because I get to talk to new people every day and use my creative talents. I graduated in 2017 from UNC-Chapel Hill with a degree in both Dramatic Arts and English. I lived in Los Angeles, CA after graduating and worked at a dental office overlooking the beach, but couldn't stay away from my hometown of Charlotte, NC for long, so I traded the beach back for the trees. In my free time, I pursue my acting career and travel to film all over the southeast.

Our Dental Philosophy

“Embracing a patient-centered culture founded on caring, value, and service excellence to build relationships for life.”

You might have noticed the above vision in our bulletin board in the reception area. It is there for a reason—to inform and remind you, our patients, of why we are here and what we strive to accomplish. But it is also posted in other areas to serve as the same reminder to each of us. This vision serves as our road map because in the words of Yogi Berra "If you don't know where you are going, you'll end up someplace else." And while we can all admit that sometimes life takes us down some side roads, I am blessed to have known that this is where I want to go.

There is also noted below our vision a request of you to hold us accountable. We want to know if we fall short of it and if we fail to do anything short of exceeding your expectations. So please know that our lines of communication are all open--email, telephone, regular mail, even texting now. But most importantly we want the opportunity to talk in person. After all, we were put here to live together, help each other, and nurture relationships that make each of our lives that much richer. Thank you to those of you who have journeyed with us over the years. I continue to be humbled by your referral of family and friends whom I hope are also seeking richer lives. Let's see what we can do in the next 25 years!

Our team is skilled, knowledgeable and detailed.
